I was wondering, are there any other communication channels used by the GGP community (provided such a community actually exists) apart from this forum? Honestly, this forum host seems to host more spam than content, which sucks...
I would have expected that there are more lively discussions about GGP somewhere on the web, and that there would be at least some small community interested in the topic - maybe researchers, students, programmers or (maybe mainly) hobby enthusiasts like me, who see implementing game rules or GGP players as a hobby. I'm in another "niche" community, which is operating system development, and there exists an active and well moderated forum, and a very active IRC channel. Does anything like this exist for GGP as well?

Great question. I have not been very active on this board in quite a while, so it is possible that I have missed something.
To the best of my knowledge, there is a small academic community that stays in touch via the AAAI conferences (www.aaai.org) and published research. As a nonacademic hobbyist like you, I am not in that network.
This discussion board was started after a groundswell of interest following the first two GGP classes on Coursera. Sadly, discussion has fallen off more recently, likely due to the spam issue which makes tracking activity more difficult. There has been an offer to move discussion to a different venue less prone to spam, but so far as I know, no agreement was reached (or at least publicized).
A few of the participants in this forum have blogs. Both are on blogspot.com Look for Sancho GGP and Alloy GGP.

Yes, this is still the main location of GGP discussion among hobbyists. I do think the dropoff in activity may have more to do with the lack of a recent Coursera offering than the spam (though the spam probably doesn't help). I should take this opportunity to point out the GGP mailing list, for those who aren't aware of it. It doesn't get a lot of activity, but I believe it has a lot of subscribers on the academic side of things: mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/general-game-playing

Thanks for the information! I have already read the Alloy GGP blog, and it's really helpful to get a better understanding of how GDL works. I didn't know the Sancho GGP blog, but it also seems quite interesting.
I have also signed up for the GGP mailing list, just in case.

Let start an IRC channel or Slack if one does not exist!

OK, how about Slack? I've created a channel. Would it be an internet faux pas to simply invite all the mails of all the recent players on tiltyard. Anyone else need adding? I can't see how I just invite with a URL.

Let start an IRC channel or Slack if one does not exist! Huh? I think you mixed something up here, I didn't say that. In general I prefer IRC, but Slack is fine for me, too. And so I signed up for the GGP channel

I'm not sure how to create a link for people to join, but I've sent Andrew an invitation. Anyone else who wants to join the Slack channel can post on this thread (or email me).
