Hello!
I'm new to this forum, so I'm still learning what sort of things are good to post and what people aren't interested in. So forgive me if this is of no interest.
I was in a two-day meeting a week ago, and I decided to create this new game called "Night Mouse," which is played with pen and paper like tic-tac-toe. I've been playing it non-stop since its creation--mostly just against myself , but also with a few friends. If anyone wants to play--here are the rules! I tried my best to explain them, but feel free to email me or respond with any questions! Also, email me if you want to play me! In addition, I've attached an image of a sample board with the symbols I use for each move.
Night Mouse Rules
Setup:
• 36-tile drawn board (6 x 6)
• 2-4 players
Objective:
• Move your mouse from any starting corner tile to any other corner tile before your opponent does
Gameplay:
• Players take turns making three moves each
• Moves can be any combination (including multiples) of the following: walk, wall, cheese, or gravel
• You must make three moves every turn
• The first move each player must make is walking onto any un-walked-on corner square. After moving onto the board, all subsequent moves must be within the boundaries of the game board.
Moves:
• Walk
o You may walk onto any non-walled tile adjacent (horizontally or vertically, not-diagonally) to the one on which you are standing. This includes illumined or unillumined tiles (see below for definition of illumined), cheeses, gravel, and tiles on which an opponent is currently standing.
o You may not walk on or across walls
o You must walk onto an adjacent tile with cheese on it
o After a tile has been walked on by any player, it is considered illumined. This tile can now be fast-travelled across (walked on without costing a move) by any player, but only during a “walk” move (i.e. the player walking must walk to an unillumined tile in order to justify fast-travelling across the illumined ones)
o Fast-travelling is broken by gravel, cheese (on or adjacent to the path of fast-travel), and unillumined tiles
• Wall
o You may build a wall on any open tile, including illumined or unillumined tiles, but excluding cheeses, walls, gravel, corner tiles, or tiles where you or an opponent are currently standing
o You may not create any enclosed places that trap an opponent or block a corner square
• Cheese
o You may lay a cheese on any open tile, including illumined or unillumined tiles, but excluding walls, gravel, or tiles where you or an opponent are currently standing
o You must walk to any adjacent tiles with cheese on them (even if you laid the cheese yourself). This includes cheese placed next to illumined paths. If a player fast-travels over an illumined path and passes a cheese, they must move to the cheese space.
o If more than one adjacent tiles have cheese, the player may choose which one to take
o Once a cheese has been walked on, it is considered eaten and disappears
• Gravel
o Gravel may be placed on any open tile, including illumined or unillumined tiles, but excluding walls, cheese, or tiles where you or an opponent are currently standing
o Gravel can be walked onto and across, but no walls or cheeses may be laid on graveled tiles
o Gravel cannot be fast-travelled over, only fast-travelled to and from
